Hjulmand & Kaptain specialises in criminal law, and several of our lawyers are officially court-assigned counsels with the right to appear before all courts.
The purpose of conducting criminal cases is to obtain justice, and it is the duty of the defence counsel to grant the best possible legal and personal assistance to the defendant or the accused, whether guilty or not guilty.
Apart from criminal offences this field further comprises any violations of private acts, e.g. tax legislation and environmental legislation, fisheries and traffic regulations and many other professional areas where an offence may be punishable.
Besides acting as assigned counsels to the defence, court-assigned counsels are also assigned to assist injured parties in criminal cases i.a. for the purpose of estimating their claim for damages.
